A flexible printed circuit consists of a metallic layer of traces bonded to a dielectric layer. The dielectric layer is usually polyimide or polyester, but other materials can be used. The primary benefits of flexible circuit boards compared to traditional cabling and rigid boards include; stronger signal quality, higher circuit density and improved reliability and impedance control, resulting in reduced wiring errors.
